Titleist Vokey SM11 Tour Chrome Golf Wedge

Titleist · £179

A chrome-finished wedge with a milled face, shown from the front.

Worth being NRY provisional

Vokey is the default wedge on tour and the reason is the grind options: the same loft is offered with several sole shapes, so the club can be matched to your turf and your angle of attack rather than to an average. A hundred and seventy-nine pounds buys one wedge, and most players need two or three. Choosing a bounce and grind without advice is how people end up with a wedge that works on a range mat and nowhere else.

For
Anyone serious enough about short game to be fitted for the sole, not just the loft.
Not for
A beginner, who will be better served by whatever came with the set.

What we checked

Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
