SL-1300G
Technics · £2,799

Nice, but provisional
Grand Class engineering in a deck designed for a sitting room rather than a booth, and Technics have an unrivalled record in direct drive to draw on. At £2,799 this is past the band this site is mostly about and into the territory where you are buying the last few percent. Worth it if vinyl is the main way you listen, and not if it is one of several.
- For
- Someone for whom records are the primary source and the budget is already settled.
- Not for
- Almost everyone, for whom the SL-1210GR2 at £1,599 is the better end of this range.
What we checked
- Technics have an unrivalled reputation in direct drive turntables. Richer Sounds
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
