TaylorMade Qi35 Designer Series Silver Golf Driver

TaylorMade · £429

A large-headed driver with a carbon crown, shown from above.

Worth being NRY provisional

Four hundred and twenty-nine pounds for TaylorMade's current flagship head, built from several materials with a chromium carbon crown. The reason a driver costs this is that the head is the most heavily engineered object in the bag and the rules cap what it can do, so the gains are real and small. The thing that will actually lower your scores is the shaft and the loft it is set to, neither of which is decided by which head you buy.

For
Somebody replacing a driver more than five years old, who will get it fitted.
Not for
Anyone expecting a new head to fix a swing. It will not, and the shaft might.

Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
