Oxford Shirt
Sunspel · £175

Worth being NRY provisional
An oxford shirt made in Britain, which for a cloth this plain is the whole proposition. Oxford is a basket weave rather than a flat one, so it is thicker, more textured and considerably more forgiving than poplin: it hides creases, it takes a wash without ceremony and it looks right with no tie, which poplin does not. At a hundred and seventy-five pounds this is the shirt to own several of.
- For
- Anyone who wants one shirt that works with a suit, with jeans and with nothing else planned.
- Not for
- Formal wear. Oxford under black tie is a category error.
What we checked
- Made in Britain. Sunspel
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
