HD 660S2
Sennheiser · £399

Worth being NRY provisional
The second version of a headphone with a genuine cult following, revoiced for more bass depth with lighter voice coils. It keeps the neutrality the 660 line is known for, which is the useful kind of boring: nothing is flattered and nothing is hidden. At £399 it is the sensible entry to open-back listening rather than the aspirational one.
- For
- Someone who wants to hear what is actually on the recording, at a desk.
- Not for
- Anyone who wants headphones to add excitement, because these deliberately do not.
What we checked
- The S2 revision uses lighter voice coils and is voiced for more bass depth. Richer Sounds
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
