Captain Cook 39mm
Rado · £2,400
Nice, but provisional
Three hundred metres, a rotating bezel and the R763 automatic with an antimagnetic Nivachron hairspring, which is the part that matters: it keeps time near the magnets in a laptop and a phone. The burgundy dial is genuinely lovely and £2,400 is well past the band this site is mostly about. It is here as the top of the category rather than as a recommendation.
- For
- Someone who has settled on this watch and wants to know the engineering holds up.
- Not for
- Anyone comparing on specification per pound, where the Certinas do most of this.
What we checked
- It uses the R763 automatic with an antimagnetic Nivachron hairspring. Beaverbrooks
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
