Debut PRO S Balanced
Pro-Ject · £899

Nice, but provisional
Pro-Ject at the top of the Debut range, with every element tuned rather than one headline part upgraded, and it sounds like it. The same balanced-output caveat applies as on the PRO B: the connection is only worth paying for if you have somewhere to plug it. At £899 it sits level with the Technics SL-1500C, which is a direct drive deck and a genuinely different approach rather than a better one.
- For
- Someone committed to belt drive who wants the best Pro-Ject make of it.
- Not for
- Anyone undecided between belt and direct drive, which is a listening decision and not a specification one.
What we checked
- Pro-Ject describe every element as tuned for performance rather than one part upgraded. Richer Sounds
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
