Debut PRO B
Pro-Ject · £729

It’s good, but this is close and much better value: Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO, £439 provisional
The PRO B takes the Debut platform and adds a true balanced output, which is the headline feature and the whole reason for the price. Balanced output does nothing at all unless your phono stage has a balanced input, which most do not, so for most buyers this is £290 spent on a socket they cannot use. The deck underneath is excellent and you can have most of it for less.
- For
- Someone who already owns a balanced phono stage and knows why that matters.
- Not for
- Anyone whose amplifier has ordinary RCA phono inputs, which is nearly everyone.
What we checked
- Its headline feature is a true balanced output. Richer Sounds
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
