Debut EVO 2
Pro-Ject · £599

Worth being NRY provisional
The EVO 2 is the same idea as the Carbon EVO with a raft of changes including a new cartridge, which is where most of the £160 goes. A cartridge is the part you would otherwise replace first, so paying for a better one at the outset is the rare upgrade that saves money. Still belt drive, still the Pro-Ject approach of spending on the bits that touch the record.
- For
- Someone who would rather buy the better cartridge now than fit one later.
- Not for
- Anyone on a budget, where the Carbon EVO below it does most of this.
What we checked
- The EVO 2 adds a raft of changes including a new cartridge. Richer Sounds
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
