Capless Fountain Pen
Pilot · £192

Worth being NRY provisional
The only fountain pen that works like a ballpoint: a click retracts the nib behind a sprung trapdoor, so there is no cap to unscrew and nothing to put down. That solves the single biggest practical objection to fountain pens, which is that they are a two-handed operation. The trade is that the clip sits at the writing end, so you hold it where the clip is, and you either stop noticing that in a week or you never do.
- For
- Anyone who writes in short bursts all day and will not uncap a pen forty times.
- Not for
- Somebody with a firm grip high on the barrel, who will feel the clip every time.
What we checked
- A rhodium-coated nib. Pure Pens
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
