Souverän M800 Fountain Pen
Pelikan · £408

Nice, but provisional
The M800 is the M600 made larger and heavier, with an eighteen carat nib instead of fourteen, and it is the pen most people picture when they picture a Pelikan. The extra carat buys a slightly softer nib rather than a better one. If your hand is large enough that the M600 disappears into it, this is worth the ninety pounds; if not, it is a bigger object for its own sake.
- For
- A large hand, and somebody who wants the flagship rather than the sensible one.
- Not for
- Anyone who has not held both. The size difference is the whole decision.
What we checked
- An eighteen carat gold nib with rhodium decoration. Pure Pens
- A differentiated piston filling mechanism. Pure Pens
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
