Panasonic · £549

Worth being NRY provisional
An OLED panel at 48 inches for £549, which is the cheapest route into OLED on this page by £200. Panasonic make the point themselves: most rivals at this money use ordinary LED, and the difference is that an OLED pixel turns off rather than being masked, so black is black rather than dark grey. For a bedroom or a study this is the one that makes the technology affordable.
- For
- Someone putting a proper panel in a second room without second-room compromises.
- Not for
- Anyone in a bright living room: OLED at this price does not go very bright.
What we checked
- Panasonic use an OLED panel where most rivals at this size use LED. Richer Sounds
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
