Aquis Date 41.5mm
Oris · £2,200
Worth being NRY provisional
300m of water resistance, a ceramic bezel insert and a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating inside, driven by Oris's Calibre 733-1 with 41 hours of reserve. Ceramic is the detail worth paying for: an aluminium bezel fades and scratches and a ceramic one does not, which is what separates a dive watch you keep from one you replace. At £2,200 this is the point in the category where the specification stops being marketing.
- For
- Someone who wants a proper dive watch and intends to wear it rather than display it.
- Not for
- Anyone wanting something dressy or under 40mm, because this is 41.5mm and deliberately chunky.
What we checked

- It runs on the Calibre 733-1 automatic movement with a 41 hour power reserve. Beaverbrooks
- The sapphire crystal is domed on both sides with anti-reflective coating inside. Beaverbrooks
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
