Prism Hooded Insulated Jacket

Montane · £150

A dark synthetic insulated jacket with a hood and quilted baffles, shown from the front.

Worth being NRY provisional

A recycled nylon shell over 60g PrimaLoft Silver, made in Cambodia, at £150. That is a synthetic insulated jacket doing the job most people actually need, warm when damp, packs small, washes without ceremony, for about a fifth of what a comparable down jacket costs. It is not waterproof and does not claim to be.

For
Someone who wants one warm layer that works in British weather and does not mind synthetic.
Not for
Anyone wanting down's warmth-for-weight, or a jacket that keeps rain out on its own.

What we checked

  • The main fabric is recycled nylon with a non-fluorocarbon water-repellent finish. Montane
  • It is insulated with 60g PrimaLoft Silver, a recycled polyester synthetic fill. Montane

Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
