2000 Fountain Pen
Lamy · £195

Worth being NRY provisional
Designed in 1966 and unchanged since, which is the strongest recommendation any object can carry. The body is Makrolon brushed to a matt finish that hides every fingerprint, the nib is hand-polished fourteen carat gold mostly hidden under a hood, and the whole thing looks like nothing else on a desk. A hundred and ninety-five pounds for a gold nib is the best price-to-nib ratio in this list.
- For
- Somebody who wants one pen for the next thirty years and no conversation about it.
- Not for
- Anyone who wants to see the nib they paid for. It is almost entirely hooded.
What we checked
- A hand-polished, platinum-coated fourteen carat gold nib. Cult Pens
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
