Nepal Cube GORE-TEX Mountaineering Boots
La Sportiva · £535

Nice, but provisional
£535 and a B3-rated mountaineering boot, which means a sole stiff enough for step-in crampons and an upper built for ice rather than for footpaths. It is magnificent and it is the wrong answer to the question this category asks: for hiking it is heavy, hot and unforgiving, and the £290 Bhutan is the better boot for every walk that does not involve crampons.
- For
- Someone going winter mountaineering who needs a B3 boot and knows it.
- Not for
- Anyone hiking: this is a different tool that happens to be shaped like a boot.
What we checked
- A B3-rated technical mountaineering boot. Ellis Brigham
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
