Waterford Crystal Lismore Cut Glass Balloon Wine Glass, 350ml, Clear
Waterford · £80
Nice, but provisional
Waterford's Lismore pattern is cut crystal from 1952 and is bought as an heirloom rather than as drinking equipment: eighty pounds for one 350ml glass, hand-cut with the diamond and wedge pattern the house is known for. Cut crystal is heavy, it is opaque where it is cut, and you cannot see the wine through the pattern, all of which is beside the point. This is tableware as jewellery and it is very good at that.
- For
- A wedding list, or replacing one of a set somebody inherited.
- Not for
- Tasting. You cannot judge a wine you cannot see.
What we checked
- A single cut glass balloon at 350ml. John Lewis
Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
