White Poplin Cotton Shirt
Emma Willis · £290

Worth being NRY provisional
Two-fold 120s poplin, yarn dyed, with single-needle stitching. The number is the yarn's fineness and 120s is genuinely fine: thinner strands, more of them, a smoother and denser cloth that takes an iron beautifully, and yarn dyed means the thread was coloured before weaving rather than the finished cloth after, so the white stays white. Two hundred and ninety pounds is a great deal of money for a white shirt and the cloth is where all of it went.
- For
- Somebody who owns three suits and has worked out that the shirt is what people see.
- Not for
- Anyone who tumble dries. This wants a wash, a damp iron and a hanger.
