Sunglasses

1402 Square

Cutler and Gross · £415

A pair of sunglasses shown from the front.

Worth being NRY provisional

£415 for a bold square drawn from Cutler and Gross’s own 1980s archive, milled from 10mm acetate. Ten millimetres is unusually thick and it is the whole character of the frame: it has presence on a face the way a thin frame cannot, and it weighs accordingly. This is the one to buy if you want the glasses to be noticed.

For
Someone who wants a frame that is clearly a choice rather than a default.
Not for
Anyone who finds heavy frames tiring, or wants to disappear behind them.

What we checked

  • A bold square from their own 1980s archive, milled from 10mm acetate. Cutler and Gross

Marked provisional: the justification rests on 1 source(s); two independent ones is the bar. We publish it anyway and say so, rather than waiting for evidence that may never arrive.
